Victorinox Swiss Army Night Vision 2012

A bit of gadgetry goodness for you ..

This is an updated version of a model that’s now coming up to its 9th birthday.

You may recall the original’s lamp function.

This one has LED dial illumination, a flashlight and an emergency strobe.

All powered by a Ronda Quartz 705 movement.

It’s a 42mm stainless steel piece, with water resistance to 50 metres.

Looks sleeker than the original IMHO.

Victorinox Swiss Army Dive Master 500

Available in a range of funky colours, and two size options – 38 and 43mm – this is the new(ish) Victorinox Swiss Army Dive Master 500.

To get a bit more specific about the various combos:

- 4 quartz models in black, burgundy, khaki green (with gold PVD coating)

- white with a 38mm case size

- 2 quartz models in white or khaki green with a 43mm case

- 3 grey, red or brown mechanical editions in 43mm.

AR-coated sapphire crystal and water resistance to 500 meters.

The movement for the quartz versions is the Swiss Ronda caliber 715.5.  For the automatic – an ETA caliber 2892-A2.

Ready for the off in a couple of months.

Victorinox Swiss Army Original Chronograph

Following on from last year’s ‘Original’ from Victorinox Swiss Army comes a chronograph equipped version of same.

Very nice it is too.

A 40mm piece, these come powered by a Swiss quartz movement. The case is a combination of plastics and a metal bezel.

Water resistance to a respectable 100 meters.

Four colour options will be available: navy grey, commando black, desert beige, and khaki green.

Each one of which comes on a Nato strap.

Expect to see these in the Northern Hemisphere Spring for around $450.

Victorinox Swiss Army Alpnach Black Ice Chronograph

Sometimes only something .. solid .. will suffice.

Take a step-up then Victorinox, with your ballistic strap enabled ‘Alpnach Black Ice Chronograph’.

Even the name sounds tough, doesn’t it?

This 44mm piece has a stainless steel black PVD case.

It has an AR-coated sapphire crystal, a display back, and is water resistant to 100 meters.

Movement is the Swiss automatic ETA caliber Valjoux 7750 with 25 jewels, 28,800 vph and a power reserve of 40 hours.

MSRP is 1,995 Euros.

Victorinox New ‘Original’

Victorinox have revamped their ‘Original’ model – first seen in 1989.

The 40mm watches are available in navy grey, commando black, desert beige or khaki green on ‘Nato’ straps.

The cases are nylon fiber with an aluminium bezel.

Only mineral crystals, but you do get 100m water resistance.

Movement is a Swiss Ronda quartz caliber.

Reasonably keenly priced at ~$250.

In related news, Victorinox has announced the opening of five new stores in the US.

The first store opened on July 1 in The Westchester mall in White Plains, N.Y.

Other store openings, slated for later this year, will include Copley Place in Boston; The Mall at Short Hills in Short Hills, N.J.; and Beverly Center in Los Angeles.

Victorinox Alliance Chronograph

Something for the budget conscious from Victorinox for Swiss Army.

This is the Alliance Chronograph and will set you back between US$400 and US$900 depending on which variant you plump for.

The Alliance comes in a variety of configurations, ranging from a simple three-hander on a leather strap to a chronograph on two-tone bracelet.

The time only version is sized at 40mm and the chronograph is at 42mm.

Both are rated to 100m and feature sapphire crystal.

Here’s the new ‘Air Boss’ from Victorinox Swiss Army.

Good ‘innit?

The case is in stainless steel and measures 42mm.

It has an AR-coated sapphire crystal, a display back, and is water resistant to 100 meters.

Dials come in silver or charcoal grey.

Movement is the Swiss-made automatic ETA caliber 2824-2 with 25 jewels, 28,800 vph and a power reserve of 40 hours.

It is available with a stainless steel bracelet or a leather strap.

MSRP is 832 to 925 Swiss Francs.
