Movado Bold Titanium

Not super flash in the spec states, but the Movado Bold Titanium does look suitably Blakes 7.

It’s quite a large piece, at 46mm, and comes in either sand-blasted or ion-plated black titanium.

There’s a K1 mineral crystal and water resistance to 100 meters.

Power from a quartz module.  No word on price at this stage.

Movado Red Label Planisphere

Published by in Movado on May 5th, 2012 | No Comments »

Unfortunately for us poor people in the Southern Hemisphere, we don’t seem to appear on Planet Movado.

For the rest of you though, you can select your region as a backdrop to your very own Planisphere.

Slightly smaller than a real planet at 42mm, in stainless steel, this piece also has an AR-coated sapphire crystal, a sapphire display back and water resistance to 30 meters.

Movement is an automatic Sellita caliber SW300, with 21 jewels.  This has been fitted with a Dubois Depraz caliber DD9235 date and moonphase complication.

Now Movado, how about some love for us folk ‘down under’? :-)

Movado Red Label Calendomatic

Here’s hoping you’re having a wonderful festive season – of whichever persuasion you choose to celebrate – and Santa (or equivalent) bought you lots of nice new toys.

We’ll be posting somewhat infrequently between now and the New Year, when we move squarely into the big Swiss shows and the associated silly season!

Look out for the small dribble of posts prior to that though .. starting with this one.

Here’s the Movado Red Label Calendomatic (cool old-school name).

It’s a 42mm piece in stainless steel black PVD.

It has double sapphire crystals and is water resistant to 30 meters.

Movement is the Swiss automatic ETA caliber 2895-2 with 27 jewels and featuring a custom-designed rotor with red Movado “M” silhouette.

Movado Bold By Chris Benz

[Press Release] Movado launched a series of limited edition Movado BOLD watches in collaboration with acclaimed fashion designer Chris Benz. A graduate of the Parsons School of Design, Chris was a recipient of the prestigious CFDA Emerging Designer award in 2004.

“Movado has an incredible history and association working with artists and designers who have taken the iconic Museum dial and updated it with fresh, unique interpretations,” remarked Efraim Grinberg, Chairman & CEO, Movado Group, Inc. “We could not be more thrilled with the final watch designs and Chris’s dynamic reinterpretation of the Museum dot.”

The Limited Edition Movado BOLD by Chris Benz, the newest addition to the acclaimed Movado Artists’ Series of watches, comprises five colorful designs featuring a fashion-forward iteration of the legendary Museum dial. The iconic Museum dot has been reinterpreted with bright, unusual color combinations and CHRIS BENZ signature smoke print was printed on silk for the straps.

“I am so honored to be in the respected group of artists and designers who have collaborated with Movado,” said Chris Benz. “There has been such a rich history, it’s almost unbelievable – from Andy Warhol and James Rosenquist to Romero Britto and Kenny Scharf, all have maintained the integrity of the Movado aesthetic without sacrificing their own unique vision. Movado is based in the keystones of art, culture, and functionality, all of which are fundamental to my own collection.”

Self-expression through time: Launched in 1987, the Movado Artists’ Series is composed of commissioned, limited edition timepieces designed by luminaries of the art world including famed ‘Pop’ artist Andy Warhol, kinetic artist Yaacov Agam, painter/sculptor Arman, painter/printmaker James Rosenquist, Swiss artist Max Bill, Brazilian-born Pop-artist Romero Britto and most recently, Brooklyn-based American artist Kenny Scharf.

Movado Bold Derek Jeter 3000

I’m afraid baseball to me is probably very much like cricket to most American viewers: long periods of boredom punctuated by the odd five seconds of action when someone hits the ball a long way.

Aficionados of either game would claim that each is entirely engaging of course (I wouldn’t go that far with cricket but I do enjoy it), and hence fans of baseball will undoubtedly welcome, and understand, this Movado special piece: made to celebrate Derek Jeter’s 3000th Major League hit.

I couldn’t tell you if 3000 ‘hits’ is good, bad or indifferent, but let’s assume it probably takes a decent achievement to warrant having a watch made in your honour :-)

The watch itself  features an indigo blue metallic dial customized with the number 2—the number Jeter wears apparently —positioned at the 2 o’clock position.

The case-back is engraved to commemorate his 3000th hit.

Only 300 pieces will be issued – each one packaged in a special sleeve accompanied by a thank-you note from Jeter.

For each piece sold, Movado will be donating a generous $100 of the $550 retail price to Derek Jeter’s Turn 2 Foundation.

Founded in 1996 Turn 2 is a charity dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles for young people and helping them avoid drugs and alcohol.

Jolly good :-)
