Loving this 101.1 model from new brand W&F (aka Wei & Friends).
The name might imply a Chinese made watch, but founder Martin Weichert (‘Wei’) is actually Prague based.
Unfortunately only limited to 27 handmade pieces, the 101.1 comes in a chunky 100m water resistant, 44.5mm brushed steel case. It has a choice of either white vitreous enamel or black enamelled dial in a special “Moondust” finish.
The strap is black India-rubber.
Movement is the Swiss hand-wind ETA caliber UNITAS 6498 in Elabore finish in a high-grade PVD finish. This has been ‘tuned’ by W&F apparently.
The stunning, and complex, hands are made up of a total of 11 different three-dimensional pieces made of 4 kinds of metal. Given this hand design, and the minimalist dial, luminosity is provided via points on the inner bezel and at the very tip of the hands themselves.
The lug system on the watch is also rather innovative, allowing the use of not just the supplied 22mm width strap, but also 20mm and 24mm widths if you prefer a bit of variation.
The rear of the watch has a display back, and I really like the inscription around the case which reads: “Time Is The Moving Symbol Of A Motionless Eternity”, by Plato.

Price-wise, you might be surprised to hear the target is sub $5000.
Of course, with only 27 pieces it’s not the price that will make this one hard to get your hands on!
Beautiful!
