It has a sapphire crystal and water resistance to 50 meters.

The dial is engraved mother-of-pearl in white or black.

[Press Release] After the success of the limited edition of the Atelier rosé gold with genuine slate dial, Swiss watch brand Paul Picot presents this year a new limited edition: Genuine slate with high grade steel case.
Slate in its natural state enhanced by the refinement of the external parts in gold has captured aficionados of fine watchmaking. Due to its success Paul Picot continues to forge ahead by combining the high grade stainless steel to its favorite material: slate.
Natural, and authentic, the choice of this precious rock extracted from 300 million year old geological strata is due to the eternal pursuit of watchmaking perfection by Paul Picot. Inspired by the philosophy of “Nobility of detail,” his master watchmakers have successfully integrated the subtle elegance of a wild natural dial in to the classical and sophisticated design of Atelier collection.
This fine slate with its characteristic veined pattern was obtained from marine sediments requiring particular geological conditions as its occurrence is so rare in nature. To process this material, the researchers at Paul Picot developed special techniques coming from the watchmaking tradition of the Jura region, where initiative and experimentation are closely linked. The round pieces of slate are first cut to size and then reduced to a thickness of 0.6 mm, which places a severe strain on their delicate and friable structure. After the delicate phase of cutting out the aperture and applied chapters, only 1.5% of the materials fashioned in this way will be used for the final assembly. Untreated, the natural dial then reveals its wild elegance, endowing each watch its own individual character.
