Salvatore Ferragamo F-80 Chronograph

Meet the Salvatore Ferragamo F-80.

Colourful? Yep.

Pricey? Err, yep.

At least I think so. $2000 for a quartz piece from the house of Timex (ok, not the movement – that’s an ETA quartz) seems rather spendy to me.

What do you think?

Made to celebrate 80 years of Ferragamo, this is a 44mm piece in titanium and black IP with black ceramic. The crystal is sapphire and it is water resistant to 100 meters.

Three colours are available: yellow, blue and fuschia.

Salvatore Ferragamo Poema [Baselworld 2012]

Hello Madam, can we interest you in some bling?

How about you sir?

Oh, sorry Madam!

Sizes vary from the small (for men) at 34mm to the very small (for the laydeees) at 25mm.

You get a sapphire crystal, and the sparkle includes sapphires, rubies and diamonds.

Movements are Swiss made automatic and quartz models.

Flash-tastic!

Salvatore Ferragamo F-80 Chronograph

The Timex group’s Salvatore Ferragamo brand has released this very white F-80 chronograph.

It’s actually a ceramic and titanium piece.

At 38mm this one’s on the smaller side, but it would certainly still be very noticeable!

You get an AR-coated sapphire and water resistance to a reasonable 100 meters.

Movement is the Swiss quartz caliber ETA 251-471.

The strap is white croco-print calf leather with deployant buckle.

Salvatore Ferragamo 1898 Dual Time

A funny old brand, Salvatore Ferragamo.

Representing one of a couple of forays into more ‘luxury’ timepieces by Timex, I guess this is targeted in the same way as Lexus is to the Toyota group.

Problem is the name always makes me think of those ‘designer’ suits that really no’one has ever heard of, but sound kind of posh: Giorgio Americio; Luciano Valentinove; Gianni Versmici.

You get the idea ;-)

This particular 40mm model comes in stainless steel with gold and black IP treatment.

The crystal is an AR-coated sapphire and it is water resistant to 30 meters.

Movement is the Swiss quartz Ronda caliber 6203B with big date and second timezone complications.

MSRP is $1,425.

What do you think?  Worth the extra $s, or not?

Salvatore Ferragamo 1898 Moonphase Chronograph

If the Codex Identity Venus is a bit too full-on for your liking, you may prefer the more understated Salvatore Ferragamo 1898 Moonphase Chronograph.

Limited to 150 pieces, this 44mm watch comes in stainless steel with gold and black IP treatment.

It has an AR-coated sapphire crystal and is water resistant to 30 meters.

Movement is the Swiss automatic ETA caliber Valjoux 7751 with chronograph and moonphase complication.

Most importantly, the moonphase features a ‘happy moon’ face: a key component of any complication of this type.
