Blancpain Villeret with Flinqué Lacquered Dial [Baselworld 2012]

Making its way to Baselworld this year is this Blancpain Villeret – with Flinqué Lacquered Dial.

That dial features multiple layers of blue lacquer, giving it a distinctive look (and name!).

This is a 40mm piece – from white gold.

Movement is the automatic ultra-slim Calibre 7663Q with three days of power reserve and a guilloché rotor viewable through the sapphire crystal caseback.

There’s a fast date adjustment at 5 o’clock.

Speaking of dates, the wiggly hand you can see in the image shows the current date – pretty cool!

The watch comes on a matching alligator leather strap.

Blancpain Saint-Valentin 2012

Hot on the heels of Chopard’s Happy Heart comes Blancpain’s addition to the world of romance: the Saint-Valentin 2012.

Apparently this is a ‘romantic interpretation’ of Blancpain’s flyback chronograph.

One set with 2.95 carats of precious stones that is :-)

Like the Chopard, this is also a 36mm piece, made from white gold.

The bezel and lugs are embellished with a single row of diamonds.

The caseband is set with four diamonds and a heart-shaped ruby.

Movement is the self-winding Calibre F185 flyback chronograph movement.

This is more than your average ‘fashion’ gift!

The watch is fitted with a white alligator leather strap and is presented in a wooden box which has been lined with white nappa leather.

Blancpain Villeret Grande Decoration For Only Watch 2011

This is Blancpain’s contribution to Only Watch 2011. Simple and elegant on the dial, but check out the stunning hand-crafted detail on the back.

Gorgeous!

[Press Release] Blancpain, first watchmaking brand to unite its forces with the Monaco Association against Muscular Dystrophies, renews once again its support with the presentation of an exclusive edition of the Villeret Grande Décoration especially created for the charity auction Only Watch 2011.

This event co-organised by the Monaco Association against Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and the Antiquorum auction house, under the high patronage of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco, will put up for bidding 39 exceptional timepieces created by the most prestigious Swiss watch manufacturers. The auction will take place on September 22, 2011, in the context of the Monaco Yacht Show and the collected funds will be entirely dedicated to support medical research on Duchenne muscular dystrophy. This highly debilitating neuromuscular disease affects one on 3500 boys – approximately 250’000 children, teenagers and young adults around the world.

Blancpain shows its uninterrupted support since 2001 when it was the first watchmaking brand to commit itself to this noble cause. After having participated in all seven events organised since then, the Manufacture in Le Brassus reaffirms once again its support by unveiling an exceptional watch especially created for this year’s Only Watch charity auction.

The Villeret Grande Décoration for Only Watch 2011 is an outstanding exercise in style distinguished by vivid contrasts. It is equipped with Calibre 15B, an ultra-thin hand-wound 117-part movement stemming from the pocket-watch in the same collection and indicating the hours and minutes. The cambered grand feu enamelled dial covering it bears only 12 painted enamel hour-markers and two hands in the same red gold as the 45 mm case housing it. The extremely pure design of its dial is counter-balanced by the incredibly refined decoration of its movement. Thanks to the slightly thicker bridges of Calibre 15B, Blancpain’s masterengraver Marie-Laure Tarbouriech has given free rein to her talent in creating an original decor for an exceptional timepiece. Entirely hand-crafted by Marie-Laure who has recently received the prestigious Meilleur Ouvrier de France distinction, this exceptional engraving of a typical Monegasque scenery represents the Rock and its hinterland.

Blancpain Villeret Demi-Fuseau Horaire 8 Jours

[Press Release] Blancpain presents the first half-timezone model with 8-day power-reserve in the Villeret collection. This complication serves to adjust the second timezone on the watch in 30-minute increments and thus to ensure relaxed travel to countries with half-hour time differences*.(*India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Southern Australia and the Northern Territory, Newfoundland and Southeast Labrador in Canada, Afghanistan, Iran, Venezuela, Marquesas Islands, Norfolk Island, Lord Howe Island, Keeling Islands)

The new half-timezone model in the Villeret collection is equipped with the 5235DF calibre developed by the Manufacture Blancpain in le Brassus. This new 324-part self-winding movement features a triple series-coupled barrel system that ensures an autonomy of 8 days and guarantees its stable rating. The balance in titanium – a material light enough to enhance energy efficiency and resistant to changes in temperature – ensures remarkably precise operation adjusted by Blancpain’s micrometric screw system.

Fitted with an alzavel-lined alligator leather strap, the Villeret Half-Timezone 8 Days watch is housed in a 42mm case in white or red gold with a sapphire crystal case-back revealing the guilloché-worked oscillating weight. Its domed grand feu enamelled white dial is enhanced by painted hour-markers. It displays the reference time at 12 o’clock, the half-hour timezone in the centre, the day/night indication for the reference time at 9 o’clock, the date – which changes in step with the second timezone – at 6 o’clock, and the date change or timezone indication at 4 o’clock.

A pusher located on the head of the crown serves to select fast date correction or half-timezone adjustment mode. Correcting the reference time automatically modifies that of the second timezone. It is worth noting that the date correction is fully secured to avoid any risk of damage.

Blancpain L-evolution Tourbillon Large Date

[Press Release] First launched in 2009, the L-evolution collection is entering its third year of existence with a model that is exceptional on all levels. this latest addition to the collection is equipped
not only with a tourbillon and a large date display, but also with a power-reserve indication appearing on a subdial directly integrated onto the oscillating weight. Yet another world first for Blancpain!

The power-reserve indication is generally displayed on the watch dial, or on the bridge side of the movement. This year, Blancpain offers a third and unprecedented solution that involves indicating the power reserve on a subdial placed directly on the oscillating weight, with which it is interdependent. This new complication, already patented in 2007 and slightly modified since, is the result of more than two years’ work by the Blancpain R&D teams.

Transferring the power-reserve indication to the oscillating weight has been achieved by an original and complex construction described in a separate document. Within this solution, the oscillating weight plays a role beyond that of merely transmitting energy: it becomes an information medium and frees up space on the dial for other functional indications, or simply for aesthetic reasons.

This original device is incorporated within the Manufacture Blancpain 4225G calibre endowed with a 7-day power reserve. This new movement is visible through the sapphire crystal caseback and also features Blancpain’s “flying” tourbillon and double-disc large date mechanism.

Available in satin-brushed white or red gold versions, measuring 43.5mm, the L-evolution Tourbillon Large Date features the characteristic dial of this collection, in a colour matching that of the case. Finally, the rubber-lined alligator leather strap ensures that this new milestone model is also extremely comfortable to wear.

Blancpain Villeret Grande Decoration

[Press Release] For the first time in its history, Blancpain is introducing a 45mm-diameter wristwatch in its Villeret collection. The new Villeret Grande Décoration is a watch distinguished by vivid contrasts. The extremely pure design of its dial with its discreet enamelled chapter ring is counter-balanced by the incredibly refined decoration of its movement visible through the case-back of this outstanding exercise in style.

Pared down to the extreme, the Villeret Grande Décoration is the simplest possible expression of the watchmaking art. It is equipped with Calibre 15B, an ultra-thin hand-wound 117-part movement stemming from the pocket-watch in the same collection and indicating the hours and minutes. The domed grand feu enamelled dial covering it bears only 12 painted enamel hour-markers and two hands in the same material as the 45 mm case housing it.

The Villeret Grande Décoration also shines for reasons above and beyond its refined lines. A glance through the transparent case-back provides a stunning view of the exceptional movement decoration work, entirely hand-crafted by the Blancpain engraving artists and decorative specialists. Thanks to the slightly thicker bridges of Calibre 15B, the artistic teams of the Manufacture in Le Brassus have given free rein to their talent in creating an original décor for each of the five models unveiled at Baselworld this year. Each is a unique work of art depicting landscapes and landmarks evoking a particular country. Switzerland, France, Japan, China and Hong Kong are honoured in this way on the models being introduced at the start of this year. Blancpain’s master-engravers will be offering different variations, each truly one of a kind, throughout 2011.

Blancpain Villeret Chronographe Monopoussoir Quantieme Complete

[Press Release] Pursuing its reinterpretation of the Villeret collection undertaken in 2010, Blancpain is now presenting a single-pusher chronograph with complete calendar and moon phases. In addition to the technical challenge involved, this original combination called for particular attention in order to preserve the readability of the dial and the stylistic purity of this model, thus ensuring harmony with the traditions of the collection.

This model in the Villeret collection is equipped with Calibre 66CM8, a movement that emerged only recently from the workshops and was built on two principles: ensuring optimal user friendliness and preserving the understated elegance of the watch of which it will become the beating heart.

User friendliness is ensured by the protection of the complete calendar and moon-phase mechanisms. These complications, based on a set of complex and delicate gear trains, have been redesigned in order to avoid any risk of damaging the movement. The indications are adjusted by means of under-lug correctors, a patented Blancpain innovation ensuring fast correction without any need for a dedicated pointed instrument.

These technical choices, as well as the traditional solution of a single pushpiece controlling the chronograph, guarantee the pure profile of the case and the clarity of its dial, both signature features of the Villeret collection. The blued steel serpentine date hand is a symbolic reference to the roots of watchmaking, which traditionally used this kind of hand to distinguish between complementary types of information. The transparent sapphire crystal case-back invites admirers to discover the quality of the finishing on the movement and its guilloché-work oscillating weight.

This new member of the Villeret family measuring 40 mm in diameter is available in a red gold version with a stamped opaline dial or in steel with a white dial – both fitted with an alzavel-lined alligator leather strap secured by a folding clasp.

Blancpain L-evolution Semanier Grande Date 8 Jours

I do like rose/red gold watches, but not sure I’m sold on this particular offering from Blancpain.  Debuting last year, the collection is typified by really large Roman numeral hour markers at 9 and 3 o’clock, and has somewhat open dials.

This L-evolution Semanier Grande Date 8 Jours calendar based watch has a big date and periphery style date, with a day of the week indicator – making this an annual calendar. It also has a power reserve indicator that is built into day of the week dial.

The Calibre 37R8G is made in-house by Blancpain. It has 8 days of power reserve, but is also an automatic. The dial of the watch is set in an a case that comes in either steel (with gray dial) or 18k red gold (with a black dial).

It’s priced between 17,550 euros and 29,250 euros.
