Louis Moinet Stardance

‘Interstellar’ diamonds, no less :-)

[Press Release] Stardance, The World’s Only Watch with Interstellar Diamonds

Stardance is a mechanical self-winding ladies’ watch. It is distinguished by its exclusive interstellar diamonds, contained in the Enstatite EH3 meteorite. Fragments of this meteorite are finely cut out and crafted in order to depict the moon phases.

The dial is mother-of-pearl and the cosmos is depicted in Aventurine, creating a decidedly sidereal overall effect. Alternating with the nocturnal world is that of daytime, represented by a running seconds display shaped like a sun of which the longest ray indicates the seconds.

The Louis Moinet signature characteristics are to be found in the hands with their “Gouttes de Rosée” (dewdrop) design, as well as the mother-of-pearl dial adorned with “Côtes du Jura”.
The standout feature of the Louis Moinet case is its upper bezel set with 6 cabochon-cut sapphires. The bezel itself is set with 54 VVS Top Wesselton diamonds. The case is made of avant-garde materials, meaning grade 5 polished titanium as well as white ceramics. It measures 35.5mm.

The automatic movement was developed and crafted by Louis Moinet and Concepto. 49 parts were required to create this exclusive additional mechanism complementing an existing caliber.

The rotor combines two universes: that of the night is shown by a disc adorned with a gold-toned moon; while the rays of the sun are portrayed by a special polished and slightly cabochon-shaped part added to the rotor in order to highlight its oscillations.

Louis Moinet Mecanograph

Beautiful :-)

[Press Release] Calibre LM31 was entirely conceived and crafted by Louis Moinet and Concepto. It is composed of 182 different elements and displays chronometer-worthy precision, as is confirmed by its COSC certificate. Nonetheless, its most remarkable characteristic is the way in which it reveals the entire regulating organ, as well as the escapement and its gear train, highlighted by the anthracite coating on the mainplate and bridges.

One of the main challenges was to insert the seconds hand within this magnificent mechanical ensemble. This has been done by means of a distinctively shaped applique and a double read-off hand, thereby affording a new vision of time.

Viewed from the back, the balance with screws shows a different and original face compared with the front view. It is fitted within a set of anthracite-coloured bridges adorned with “Côtes du Jura” and enhanced with 26 jewels made using the Verneuil process and presented through openings, as well as by blued steel screws.

To achieve its chronometer-level precision, the 26 jewels manufacture-made movement LM31 vibrates 8 times a second, meaning 28,800 vibrations per hour. It has a 48 hour power reserve and the rotor is mounted on a high-tech ceramic ball bearing mechanism. The external minute track as well as a half-dial adorned with “Côtes du Jura” motif and the hands are designed by Louis Moinet and nicknamed “Gouttes de Rosée” (for their dewdrop design).

The case is made from grade 5 titanium with polished and satin-brushed finishing. It measures 43.5mm x 15.5mm and is water resistant to 50 meters. Crystals are sapphire. Two versions combine 18kt rose gold and titanium with silver or black dials. It features Louis Moinet signature codes, i.e. upper six-screw bezel and its unique interchangeable crown tube system for which an invention patent has been filed.

Louis Moinet Geograph Rainforest

[Press Release] Celebrated watchmakers Louis Moinet SA presented the Geograph “Rainforest”, created especially for the Malaysian king His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin last month at Baselworld 2011.

Geograph “Rainforest” introduces an exceptional new material to Louis Moinet: that of petrified palm wood.

Each of the 120 limited edition watches sold will enable a substantial contribution to the Pulau Banding Foundation, which aims to preserve the Malaysian tropical forest of Belum- Temengor, one of the oldest in the world.

The two chronograph counters are made from genuine petrified palm wood. This emblematic tree believed to be 70 million years old comes from the tropical forests of South-East Asia.

Through its rich heritage, Louis Moinet – whose eponymous founder worked closely with A. L. Breguet, probably the greatest horologist of all time – expresses a unique brand identity. The dual-time display is read off by a serpentine hand that makes a perfect match with the Côtes du Jura motif. Read-off is facilitated by the 24-hour ring composed of two separate elements featuring a perfect finish ensuring an extremely high-end aesthetic effect.

The signature features of the Louis Moinet case in rose gold and 316L stainless steel consist in its upper bezel secured with six screws; its unique interchangeable crown tube system for which a patent has been filed; the champagne-cork style chronograph pushers adorned with the atlas motif are designed to symbolise travel.

To ensure the harmony and balance of the functions the date appears not at 3 o’clock, but at 9 o’clock.

The case-back is inspired by tropical forest themes – an orang-utan and a rhinoceros hornbill against the backdrop of the tropical forest and a starry sky.

The self-winding mechanical movement drives a variety of indications including the hours, minutes and seconds; the 60-second chronograph function with 30-minute and 12-hour counters; as well as a dual-time display adjustable via the crown.

Louis Moinet Astralis

[Press Release] ASTRALIS is an innovative watch unlike any other. Its extremely high level of technical sophistication is highlighted by a legendary mechanism stemming from an authentic passion for fine watchmaking. ASTRALIS features an exclusive and unprecedented alliance of complications: an astral Tourbillon, a split-second column-wheel Chronograph, as well as a 24-hour Planetarium displaying four meteorites boasting unique rarity.

The ASTRALIS case is crafted in the warm shades of 18-carat rose gold 5N, and its polished finish lends it a distinctive glow. This highly complex case involves the manufacture of 50 different elements that are then meticulously assembled. The technical feats involved include the unique interchangeable crown tube system for which an invention patent has been filed.

In order to ensure the purest possible design, ASTRALIS features an ergonomic approach to the split-second function which is integrated within the crown, while the bezel secured with six screws radiates a strong presence and facets that are softened by the work of the master polisher.

ASTRALIS comprises the distinctive characteristics of the Louis Moinet universe: the dial with its dedicated “Côtes du Jura”® motif, the “Gouttes de Rosée” (“dewdrop”) hands, and the brand’s signature case structure. It also features some subtle philosophical nods such as the split-second hand adorned with a shooting star, or the pushers adorned with a wind rose.

ASTRALIS is fitted with a hand-sewn strap in Louisiana alligator leather lined with crocodile leather to ensure a perfectly comfortable feel on the wrist. The double folding clasp is made from 18-carat rose gold and grade 5 titanium with a PVD finish. It is delivered in the famous Louis Moinet presentation box evoking the Traité d’Horlogerie (watchmaking treatise) written by the master-watchmaker in 1848, and which remains an enduring reference work in the field of horology.
