Oris Artix GT Chronograph

If you’ve not yet had your fill of Oris watches (we’ve had a few on here recently), can I please introduce you to the Artix GT?

I actually really like this one – it looks a bit more refined than some other Oris models, which can be a little agricultural at times.

Still relatively large (but not huge) at 44mm, in stainless steel, this one has a black ceramic minute scale on the bezel surrounded by a rubber grip.

The crystal is sapphire and water resistance is to a reasonable 100 meters.

Power comes from the old fave – an ETA 7750 – but Oris have added a trick retrograde seconds indicator in the form of a sliding red bar at the 9 O’Clock position. Like that :-)

They’ve also coloured the rotor, which can be seen via a rear crystal.

Not too shabby at all.

Oris Tubbataha Regulator Diver

An unusually named Oris diver, but there is a good reason for it.

The Tubbataha is a limited edition (2000 pieces) with a percentage from each sale going towards the conservation of the Tubbataha Reefs National Park in the Philippines.

“Rising from the volcanic depths of the Sulu Sea in the Western Philippines, Tubbataha Reefs National Park is home to some of the most beautiful coral reefs in the world. These magnificent atolls support an unparalleled variety of marine creatures. Colourful reef fish crowd corals growing in the shallows while sharks and pelagic fish haunt the steep drop-offs to the open”

This is a 47mm piece, in titanium.

There’s a sapphire crystal and water resistance to a diver-friendly 500 meters.

It features a Helium escape valve and a blue ceramic bezel inlay.

Round the back is a shark motif: natives of the reef apparently.

Oris Aquis Titan Chronograph Diver

Another solid offering from Oris (in the very literal sense).

46mm in size, but thankfully the weight is kept down somewhat courtesy of a titanium case.

The crystal is sapphire and water resistance is to 500 meters (second model in a row with this fine attribute).

Power comes from the workhorse automatic ETA 7750 movement.

There’s also a screw-down stainless steel crown and stainless steel pushers with an automatic Helium escape valve at 9 o’clock.

The two-piece black dial includes superluminova indices and numerals and comes wearing a black Gaucho leather strap.

I do like the crown as well.

Oris RAID 2011 Alarm

Ooh, now this is an Oris that I really do like!

The RAID 2011 Alarm has come about due to Oris’s association as the official timekeeper and watch partner of the RAID Suisse-Paris, which assembles pre-1975 classic cars for a rally covering almost 1,000 km.

The dial takes its cue from the dashboard of the classic English Austin Healey 100M.

The watch is a 50 piece limited edition 42.5mm piece in stainless steel.

It has an AR-coated sapphire crystal, a sapphire display back, and is water resistant to 30 meters.

Movement is a Swiss automatic with alarm module developed by Oris.

MSRP is 7,800 Swiss Francs.

Good job Oris!

Oris Carlos Coste Cenote Limited Edition

Published by in Oris on May 22nd, 2011 | No Comments »

Here’s the 2000-piece limited edition Carlos Coste Cenote dive watch from Oris.

Due out next month, retail will be around US$4500.

The watch comes in a 46mm titanium case with a ceramic bezel and helium escape valve.

It features an ETA 7750 automatic movement with Oris signature red rotor.

Being a ‘dive’ watch you get a decent 500 meter water resistance and the choice of titanium or rubber bracelets (user-interchangeable).

And in case you’re wondering who Carlos Coste is, he’s a record-breaking Venezuelan free-diver.

He’s free-dived to over 140 metres.

Wow!

That’s about 139.5 metres deeper than my own personal record :-)

Accompanying the watch is a rather nice accessories pack (see below):

Oris Swiss Hunter Team PS Edition

In 1994, Switzerland withdrew the iconic “Patrouille Suisse” Hunter planes from the Swiss Air Force (yes, Switzerland has an air force!).

Since then, many military aviation enthusiasts have campaigned to “Save the Patrouille Suisse-Hunter”.

The campaign is led by the Swiss Hunter Team, the Patrouille Suisse fan club, the Oris watch factory and others with a passion for vintage aircrafts.

In support of the campaign, Oris has developed three Oris Swiss Hunter Team PS Edition watches, and will financially support the Swiss Hunter Team to try and maintain the Patrouille Suisse Hunter plane.

The Swiss Cross on the counter balance of the second hands on both the male and female versions of the watch, and the official logo of the Swiss Hunter Team on the case backs mark these out for the purpose for which these editions were made.
