Muhle-Glashutte Terrasport I Chronograph [Baselworld 2012]

Moving on now from a soporific Swiss to strict Teutonic practicality ..

[Press Release] This chronograph represents a new addition to the Terrasport family by Mühle-Glashütte. It combines the timeless instrument look with the well-proven qualities of Mühle chronographs. The design itself is reminiscent of the classic Glashütte pilot’s watches of the first half of the 20th century.

As you would expect of a genuine pilot’s watch, the face of the Terrasport I chronograph incorporates plenty of contrasts and offers optimal legibility. The white minutes display stands out clearly against the black background while the three black totalizers for the small seconds display and the minutes and hours displays blend in seamlessly with the overall appearance. The impression is similar to that of a classic aeroplane cockpit – and this is no coincidence. The numerals cut-away by the totalizers at the 5, 7 and 9 o’clock positions reinforce the lively character of this timepiece. This is enhanced further by a red-tipped central chronograph hand and the corresponding red markers of the chronograph functions. The Terrasport I Chronograph guarantees optimal legibility by day and night, as is typical of Mühle watches, thanks to a white scale with red colour accents and Super-LumiNova-coated numerals and hands.

The 44mm brushed stainless steel case forms an unobtrusive frame for the eye-catching watch face. Inside, it is powered by a MU 9408 movement which already has a proven track record in various Mühle watches such as the S.A.R. pilot’s chronograph. The movement is characterised by a 48-hour power reserve and the typical Mühle refinements. The shock-proof fine regulation ensures the accuracy of the watch in all conditions.

The black buffalo leather strap with its white stitching harmonises with the predominant colour on the watch face design. Furthermore, the Terrasport I is also available with a cream-coloured face and brown buffalo leather strap.

Muhle-Glashutte Terranaut I Trail [Baselworld 2012]

A step down in numbering, but a nice step up in spec for Muhle-Glashutte’s Terranaut I over the Terranaut III

Available in steel or black PVD for the bargain prices of 2350 and 2450 Euros respectively, the Terranaut I is a 44mm piece.

Inside you’ll find the in-house movement MU9408, featuring Muhle-Glashutte’s patented ‘woodpecker’ neck regulator.

This feature helps the watch stay on track though knocks and bumps.

The movement has a 48 hour power reserve.

You also get a sapphire crystal and water resistance to 50 meters.

Looks pretty good, don’t you think?

Mühle-Glashütte Teutonia III Handaufzug

Here’s the Teutonia II Handaufzug (‘Manual Wind’ in English).

The case is in stainless steel and measures 41mm x 11.2mm. It has an AR-coated sapphire crystal and is water resistant to 100 meters.

Movement is the German caliber MU 9411, the first in-house movement from Mühle-Glashütte.

Its transmission wheel and ratchet wheel are placed visibly in the three-quarter plate typical of Glashütte, and are given the Glashütte solarization, both of which are features of typical Glashütte pocket watch movements.

In addition, this caliber is also equipped with the woodpecker neck regulation developed by Mühle in 2003. This ensures that the timing check of the movement, which is regulated in six positions, is not altered when the watch is subjected to a sharp jolt.

It has a power reserve of 38 hours.

Muehle Glashuette Terranaut III Trail

[Press Release] German watch brand Muehle-Glashuette introduces a new member to its Terranaut family of watches. While the predecessors of the Terranaut family were always pilot’s watches, the new Terranaut III Trail is a sporty accompaniment for demanding trails on land: hard-wearing with stamina and a no-frills design.

It is important for equipment to be suited to the demands of the trail. As such, the Terranaut III Trail incorporates uncompromising features and design. The watch comes with a brushed stainless steel case (optionally with black PVD coating) to avoid even the smallest of scratches. The case with a screw-in crown is covered with an anti-reflective scratch-proof sapphire crystal. The transparent case back offers insight into the SW 200-1 automatic movement in the Muehle version with its patented „Spechthals‟ regulation. This guarantees that the movement is unaffected by any impacts or unevenness in terrain and the regulation of the watch is ensured even under the most challenging of situations. In addition to the typical Muehle rotor with its Glashuette solar grinding, the power reserve promises endurance, lasting 38 hours. A stop second feature and fast date correction complete the technical characteristics of this sporty instrument watch.

The Terranaut III also continues this „trail‟ concept in the design and colours. The sand-coloured hands, numbers and indices stand out against the black background, which is reduced to its most essential elements. The numbers 3, 9 and 12 are emphasised. This ensures that nothing detracts from the view of the date display at the 6 o‟clock position. The legibility of the time forms the focus of the design, as is usually the case with Muehle watches – even in the dark. The Super-LumiNova coating means that the exact time is clearly legible at a glance during the night or on shady terrain.

The design of this special timepiece is brought to a fitting conclusion with a black Russia leather strap with a stainless steel pin buckle. The sand-coloured stitching on the strap is a deliberate reflection of the colouring on the hands and numbers and creates a harmonious appearance overall.

And so pathways to be followed emerge. With the Terranaut III Trail, Muehle-Glashuette continues to pursue its direction of producing sporty instrument watches. This timepiece is just as resilient and functional as its predecessors in the classic pilot‟s watch style and develops the company motto even further: essential for every adventure, while remaining „down to earth‟.

Muehle Glashuette Marinus GMT

[Press Release] German watch brand Muehle-Glashuette enriches its Marinus collection with a second time zone model.

The new Marinus GMT will be a reliable partner for all kinds of fun and extreme sports, the robust outdoor watch has proved to be absolutely resistant to external influences such as pressure, temperature fluctuations, and salt water.

Thanks to its additional second time zone indication, the travel accessory allows the wearer to have the local time zone on his arm and his home time on his wrist wherever he travels.

For the ease of distinction between home and local time, the dial is furnished with a red scale, perfectly matching the colour of the GMT hand. It points outwards to the bidirectional bezel, which indicates the second time zone.

Marinus GMT is equipped with a Muehle-specific ETA 2893-2 automatic movement. In addition to the so-called “Spechthalsregulierung”(woodpecker neck regulation) – the company’s own regulation in the shape of a woodpecker’s head, it features the characteristic Muehle-rotor with the famous Glashuette solar grinding.

A power reserve of 42 hours, stop seconds and quickset date mechanism complete the technical particularities of the durable timekeeper.

When facing challenges, Marinus GMT, water resistant to 30 atm, is securely protected by a solid stainless steel case with a diameter of 42.2 mm and a height of 12.2 mm. Several details such as the bossed, non-reflective 2.5 mm sapphire glass, the clear structure of the dial, and the hands and indices coated with white Super LumiNova ensure excellent visibility.

The bidirectional rotating, handy bezel and the crown’s side protectors perfectly round out the watch’s unique outdoor character. These details make Marinus GMT a watch for all those who expect more than 100% performance.
