Tissot Men’s T-Race PVD Automatic Chronograph

I like this one, but I’m almost wishing the non-magnifying date magnifying area wasn’t there. What do you think?

A nicely chunky 45mm piece, it comes in stainless steel and all black PVD, or gold PVD with black PVD bezel.

It has double sapphire crystals and is water resistant to 100 meters.

Movement is the redoubtable Valjoux 7750 with 25 jewels, 28,800 vph and a power reserve of 38 hours.

Chronoswiss Pacific Automatic

Something blue from Chronoswiss.

A 40mm piece, in stainless steel, it has a sapphire crystal and sapphire display back.

Water resistance is to 100 meters.

Movement is the automatic Chronoswiss caliber C281. This has 21 jewels, beats at 28,800 vph and holds a power reserve of 42 hours.

If you love really technical information you may also like to know that it also has the following: a Glucydur balanace, a Nivarox flat hairspring, Incabloc shock protection and fine adjustement via an eccentric cam.

And if that’s not enough, how about: a skeletonized and rhodium-plated rotor with Côtes de Genève finish, ball bearing, polished pallet lever, escape wheel and screws, plates with perlage, bridges with sunburst pattern and Perlage finishing.

Phew!

Oh, and it tells the time and date :-)

Edox Chronorally Automatic Chronograph

Published by in Edox on April 9th, 2012 | No Comments »

Edox certainly know how to make some chunky timepieces.

Not that that’s a bad thing – I quite like this Chronorally, particularly the tire-tread strap.

This is a 42mm piece in stainless steel black PVD.

It has an AR-coated sapphire crystal, a display back and water resistance to 100 meters.

Movement is the redoubtable Valjoux 7750 – modified slightly to make the Edox caliber 011.

The dial is carbon fiber.

Nice :-)

Charriol Celtic XL Automatic

Lying atop a bed of faux diamonds (ice?), this is the Charriol Celtic XL.

Love the strap – titanium cables.  Very cool!

It’s a 43mm piece with a stainless steel case. There’s a sapphire crystal, display back and water resistance to 50 meters.

The bezel features 18kt rose, white or yellow gold gadroons.

Gadroons?

Yeah, I’d never heard that either.  Apparently it means ‘A band of convex molding carved with ornamental beading or reeding’. So there you go :-)

Power comes from an automatic ETA caliber 2892-2 movement.  This has 21 jewels, beats at 28,800 vph and holds a power reserve of 42 hours.

Tissot Classic Automatic

Mad Men style?

I have no idea, I don’t actually watch Mad Men.  I just imagine this Tissot Classic might suit it quite well?

A 42mm piece, this is made from stainless steel with an 18kt rose gold bezel. It has a sapphire crystal, a display back and water resistantce to 30 meters.

Movement is the automatic ETA caliber 2895-2 with 27 jewels, 28,800 vph and a power reserve of 44 hours.

Classic?  Perhaps, but still extremely nice regardless, don’t you think?

Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar Automatic Ref. 5940 [Baselworld 2012]

One for the ‘when you are old and rich’ list.

A classic, sensible and old-school 37mm in size from 18kt yellow gold, the 5940 has a sapphire crystal, a solid and a sapphire back and water resistance to 30 meters.

Powering the watch is the in-house automatic Patek caliber 240Q. This is ultra-thin, with a power reserve of 48 hours.

Functions are hours, minutes, perpetual calendar (day, date, month, leap year) moon-phase and 24 hour indication.

Smooth ….

Vasto Secolo Automatic [Baselworld 2012]

Not knowing much of anything about Vasto I had to do a quick check on this one before posting.

Turns out that despite the Italian sounding name, Vasto are actually a Chinese brand.

No crappy $2 digital junk from them though, thankfully.

The Secolo Automatic is powered by an ETA caliber 2846 movement. This has 25 jewels, 28,800 vph and a power reserve of 42 hours.

The watch itself is 42mm in size from stainless steel. It has double sapphire crystals and is water resistant to 50 meters.

The bezel comes in steel or in 18kt rose gold.

The Ivory color dial has 8 diamond markers.

Not to my personal taste (although I do like the day/date treatment), but I’m sure it will have appeal to many others.
