*Pow* – take that, Dubey & Schaldenbrand! :-)

Made in a 2000-piece run, the Chrono II Red SuperOcean is a 44mm piece in stainless steel.

*phew*!

Charriol Celtica Chrono Stealth

Firstly, our apologies for ‘going dark’ over the past few days:  travelling and writing sometimes don’t make good bed fellows.

Speaking of going dark though (tenuous link alert!), here’s the Charriol Celtica Chrono Stealth.  Appropriately partially hidden away in the image here.

Its a 44mm piece in stainless steel black or grey PVD.  There’s a sapphire crystal and water resistance to 100 meters.

Movement is a quartz Ronda Startech with calendar complication.

It features a moulded rubber bracelet with cable motifs.

Zeno Vintage Classic Chrono [Baselworld 2012]

This Zeno ‘Classic Chrono’ has some appeal, but the position of the moon-phase indicator seems rather strange to me.

Obviously constrained by the movement – a Valjoux 7768 manual wind – but it looks a bit squished upwards, don’t you think?

It’s a 44mm piece in stainless steel. There’s a sapphire crystal and display back, with water resistance to 30 meters.

The aforementioned movement has 17 jewels, beats at 28,800 vph and carries a power reserve of 38 hours.

Hublot Big Bang Chrono Tourbillon Ferrari

That didn’t take long.

Soon after announcing their union, Hublot and Ferrari have given birth to their first love child, the snappily named ‘Big Bang Chrono Tourbillon Ferrari’.

For a watch that combines Hublot and Ferrari DNA it’s surprisingly understated (ok, it’s not really understated per se – these things are all relative – but the Ferrari design elements are nice and subtle).

This piece is meant to commemorate Ferrari’s 20 years in the Chinese market, but to be honest that just sounds like the quickest and most convenient event they could pick in order to get something out as soon as possible following news of the partnership.

At 44mm and in an all carbon fibre case (nice), there’ll only be a limited run of twenty pieces made.

Movement is the Hublot caliber 6300 column-wheel chronograph.

It comes with a tourbillon and power reserve meter.

What do you think?

I must confess – I’m pleasantly surprised :-)

Codex Identity Chrono Moonphase

Hmm. I’m struggling with this one a bit.

Must try and find something positive to say ..

Ok ..

1. Codex certainly aren’t afraid to make some bold / ‘interesting’ watches
2. If you played this watch in Scrabble you’d clean up!
3. ??
4. Profit.

Yeah, that doesn’t quite cut it, does it?

How about some facts instead?

This is a 44mm 18kt rose gold piece.

It has a sapphire crystal, a sapphire display back and is water resistant to 50 meters.

Movement is the Swiss automatic ETA caliber Valjoux 7751 with chronograph and moonphase complication.

I’m sure this has a certain demographic who’ll be falling over themselves to grab one.

Just not for me I’m afraid.

Chopard Classic Racing Superfast Chrono Split Second

Chopard have added a split seconds timer to their Racing Superfast range, in a 1000 model special edition.

The split seconds function (aka ‘Rattrapante’) effectively has two seconds hands.

You can stop them independently of each other, enabling recording of an intermediate (split) time.

When released, the split seconds hand catches up with the main chrono hand, and you can start all over again.

The movement to enable this magic is a COSC certified automatic chronograph, with a power reserve of 42 hours.

The watch itself comes on a 45mm blackened DLC case.

You also get moulded rubber pushers – red for the split seconds – a vintage steering wheel emblem on the crown and ‘wheel-nut’ screws on the bezel.

It comes shod with a Dunlop tyre style rubber strap.

V. cool!

Corum Admiral’s Cup Seafender 48 Chrono Bol d’Or Mirabaud

Do you remember the sick-bay from the original Star Trek series?

Corum have found an ingenious way to recycle the material from that to make this, the ‘Seafender 48′..

… hold on ..

…… they didn’t?

Err, apparently my information sources might have got their wires-crossed.

How about we cross directly to Corum’s press release instead?

Might be safer!

[Press Release] To celebrate the partnership with the Bol d’Or Mirabaud presented by Corum, the watch brand is presenting an exclusive timepiece proudly bearing the event colors: the Admiral’s Cup Seafender 48 Chrono Bol d’Or Mirabaud. The winners of the Bol d’Or and the Bol de Vermeil will be presented with one of these 30-piece limited edition watches

Equipped with the star complication for sports watches, the chronograph function, the Bol d’Or model features a generously sized 48 mm blue case. The model is distinguished by a twelvesided bezel in the same shade, along with the nautical pennants that are a signature feature of the Admiral’s Cup collection.

Loyal to its tradition of innovation and originality, Corum has chosen to run counter to its usual practice by associating a “centro” chronograph with this model. The chronograph minutes and seconds hands, traditionally appearing on two small dedicated counters, are mounted here on the same axis as the conventional hour and minutes hands. As well as resulting in an original and extremely pared-down face for a chronograph, this approach naturally also ensures enhanced readability.

The dial, richly adorned with a Clous de Paris hobnail motif and applied gold hour-markers, is enhanced by gold hands. The watch as a whole gives subtle pride of place to the blue and golden colors of the Bol d’Or Mirabaud presented by Corum.

Codex Identity Chrono Moonphase

Published by in Codex on June 6th, 2011 | No Comments »

Stand by for a long long list of technical details.

Before we get to those though, some basic details first:  there are three versions of this 44mm watch available - stainless steel, 18-carat rose-gold with a brown dial and alligator leather strap, or a black PVD-coated case set with seven diamonds.

Each runs the Valjoux 7750 CCL caliber offering a chronograph, a date with central hand and a moonphase indicator at 3 o’clock.

Alright, basics out the way, on to the tech specs! (after the break ..).
