Richard Mille RM 022 Carbon

There’s no question that Richard Mille watches are superb objects of desire.  For us mere mortals though I do wonder sometimes about featuring pieces like this: makes me too jealous, and our chances of owning one.  Yeah, exactly.

Still, without pictures we’d have nothing at all, so take what you can get and feast on the RM022 limited edition.

Made from an exotic mix of carbon nanotubes injected into black polymer, this is one super-strong watch.  Inside is a hand-wound RM tourbillon.  Dual time-zones and seventy hours of power reserve.

Only four will be made, with a price of … fuggedaboutit :-)

Richard Mille Le Mans Classic

The Le Mans 24-hour extravaganza may have come and gone for another year, but don’t let that try and stop you picking up one each of Richard Mille’s fabulous limited edition pieces – crafted for the slightly more sedate (but by no means slow) Le Mans Classic.

These two watches – the RM 008 LMC and the RM 011 LMC - will coincide with the event which kicks off on the 6th July.

The RM008 is a tourbillon split-seconds chronograph, available in a huge run of .. two pieces! And a price tag of — $740,000. Ouch!

You may have a slightly better chance of picking up an RM011 though (a snip at $110,000). This one’s a 150 piece run and features a skeletonized automatic movement with flyback chronograph and annual calendar. This watch also has a 24-hour counter positioned at 6 o’clock.

More than 200 separate machining operations are required to make the barrel-shaped titanium case alone. The bezel is satin-finished with a double “Le Mans” microblasted stripe in the centre.

One of each please :-)

Technical Specifications

RM008
–Manual winding tourbillon movement displaying the hours, minutes and seconds, with split seconds chronograph function and power-reserve, torque and function indicators
–Power reserve: circa 70 hours
–Dimensions: 48.00 mm x 39.70 mm x 14.95 mm

Rafael Nadal Wins French Open, Loses Another Richard Mille Watch

[update: turns out it was the bartender wot did it. Police have nicked said villain and Rafa has his watch back.  Happy endings all around!]

Original story follows: whilst we’ve been off having an overseas sojourn (which, dear reader, explains the silence around here the past few days), Rafael Nadal has been having his own adventures.

He’s moved swiftly from the elation of winning the French Open to the despair of ‘losing’ a second RM027 special lucky watch from Richard Mille.

This one went walkabout from his hotel room, allegedly. Although apparently not via a break-in, according to French Police.

Hmm. Look out for a chamber-maid driving a Ferrari once they’ve cashed in this $500,000 limited edition piece (50 only made).

Or keep checking them eBay listings …

Richard Mille Aviation E6-B RM039 [Baselworld 2012]

I do like Richard Mille watches, and the geek in me loves this RM039.

I must admit though to a horrible feeling that the RM039 has crossed the line from haute horology into Casio Pathfinder territory.

What do you think?

Essentially, what Richard Mille have done with this one is take one of their Divers collection models and graft on a slide-rule and some stripy tape.

Ok, it’s obviously not as easy as that – there are various aviation functions here – most of which will remain totally indecipherable to the lucky 30 people who’ll be getting one of these (30 piece limited edition).

The RM039 comes in titanium.

If you have to ask ‘how much?’, well – you know the rest!

In summary: slight torn, but still wouldn’t say no to one though :-)

Richard Mille RM053 Pablo Mac Donough

At first glance you may think that the Richard Mille 053 isn’t quite as ‘sexy’ or ‘funky‘ (or transparent!) as other models in the range:  it being more tank than watch.

There’s a reason for the case heft though, you see Pablo Mac Donough is a polo player, and unlike Mr Nadal’s tennis watch – which really just had to be light and reasonably strong – polo can be a tad more demanding!

Made from titanium carbide, a rather strong material (trust us), this one will be available to only fifteen lucky players.

Actually, non-players may get a look in, but only if you’re very rich. very lucky and very well connected!

Richard Mille Tourbillon Skull RM052 [SIHH 2012]

Completely and utterly mad, but I love this :-)

Only 15 will be made in Titanium and 6 in Rose or White Gold.

Who do I have to kill / sleep with to get one? ;-)

Richard Mille RM056 Sapphire [SIHH 2012]

Sapphire crystal hands?

Pah!

How about a whole watch made from sapphire crystal?!

Meet Richard Mille’s $1.7M RM056.

It’s a split-seconds chronograph with tourbillon, and a case built – yep – entirely of sapphire crystal.

Only 5 will be made.

Outrageous, beautiful and ever so slightly bonkers!!

Chopard Paul Miller Racing Limited Edition Mille Miglia GTXL

Chopard are celebrating their partnership with Paul Miller Racing in the American Le Mans Series, by introducing the ‘Paul Miller Racing Limited Edition Mille Miglia GTXL’.

Available in stainless steel (100 pieces, $9,650) or pink gold (25 pieces, $26,000).

Movement is a COSC certified automatic mechanical movement.

I quite like this, but I’m really not a fan of magnified dates (heresy, I know!).

What do you think?

Richard Mille RM 037

Head on over to Harrods and you may be fortunate enough to get a glimpse of this new RM 037 from Richard Mille.

Actually, you might have to wait until SIHH next year for that – this is merely a sneaky peek.

Powered by the new in-house CRMA1 movement the 52.2mm skeletonised titanium RM037 features a number of novel features.

The crown has been separated from the watch case, which means no winding stem. (the watch is wound via the pusher at 4:00pm – the same pusher is also used to set the hand positions). Apparently this arrangement minimises the risk of damage from crown to stem to movement.

Power reserve is 50 hours.

New gear teeth result in better transmission of power to the balance wheel. There’s also a new rotor and re-worked screws for all the major components.

A second pusher at 10 o’clock is used for date changes.

The Richard Mille RM037 will be available in Titanium, Red Gold or White Gold.

Loving the case on this – absolutely beautiful.
