Breguet Classique 5717 Hora Mundi

Speaking of sexy beasties, this is a gorgeous new piece courtesy of Breguet from this year’s Baselworld:  the Classique 5717 Hora Mundi.

[Press Release] It is made of precious materials: 18-carat red gold or 950 platinum. Three versions of the dial are available, each representing one part of the world: the Americas, the European and African continents, or Asia and Oceania – six references in all. Breguet’s teams needed three years to design, develop and perfect this complication watch. It is the first example of a mechanical timepiece with an instant-jump time-zone display. This function allows the traveller to easily display the time in two pre-selected time zones, changing instantly from one to the other simply by pressing a button, without disturbing the operation of the watch. Accurate operation during setting is ensured by a stop second system. Changing the time zone affects not only the time, but also the date synchronised through a «tracking» calendar system – and the day/night indicator.

Bovet Fleurier Orbis Mundi Moon Phase

[Press Release] Designed and developed to meet today’s needs, the Orbis Mundi® indicates the hours and minutes of a second time zone which can be adjusted by two correctors without any adverse effect on time setting.

An aperture indicates the name of the city matching the indication of the second time zone, which is completed by a day-night indicator to avoid any unwanted confusion.

Since 2010, the Orbis Mundi® has been housed in the convertible AMADEO case which allows the timepiece to be converted from a wristwatch to a miniature clock or a pocket watch without the use of tools.

This year the appeal of the Orbis Mundi® is enhanced by a phase of the moon indicator indexed to the local time zone. To achieve this, BOVET designers demonstrated their exceptional talent. In addition, the names of the cities in each of the twenty-four zones can be personalised according to the owner’s wishes.

Until now the Orbis Mundi® has taken you around the world in twenty-four touches of a button; today it gives you the moon.
