Less watch news and more phone news now from Ulysse Nardin with their ‘Chairman’ smartphone and docking station solution.
The problem with ‘brand’ phones such as these (and the same holds true for phones from Tag Heuer, Armani etc) is that they’re normally, err, pretty crappy.
Thankfully, although spec-wise the Chairman also won’t set the world alight, there are some neat touches, including the custom dial display and a crown set onto the side of the case which, if I’m reading the press release correctly, you can use to actually ‘wind-up’ the phone to supply some supplemental power.
That’s pretty cool :-)
Other than that, this appears to be a fairly standard 3G phone with bluetooth and hands-free usage. No mention of wi-fi or email connectivity thus far.
Supplied with the phone is a very funky docking station.
The one-of-a-kind creation is comprised of over 260 mechanical parts and is entirely hand assembled.
Complemented by Alcantara leather, the docking station is hand polished and available in both a natural wood and black finish.
The docking station’s phone cradle provides battery charging as well as back-up and restoring capabilities on a supplied 32 GB memory stick.
Full multimedia capabilities, including Bluetooth Connectivity are incorporated into the base station, as well as a microphone and speakers for hands free calling.
The speakers also provide high quality music playback via Bluetooth.
Storage is provided for additional phone accessories, backup drives and chargers and a European/US/UK AC/DC power adapter makes the docking station versatile for the World traveller.
